INDIA: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation and announced an economic package worth Rs 20 lakh crore or 10 % of India’s GDP in 2019-20, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to address a press conference at 4 PM on Wednesday to announce the details of the economic package, which is aimed towards achieving the mission of a self-reliant Aatmanirbhar Bharat

Taking it to the twitter, Ministry of Finance announced “Finance Minister Smt. @nsitharaman will address a Press Conference today, 13th May 2020, at 4 PM in New Delhi.”

In a series of tweets, Nirmala sitharaman further explained the vision behind Aatmanirbhar bharat. She said ” This is not just a financial package, but a reform stimulus, a mindset overhaul, and a thrust in governance”

“Indian economy has acquired strength in its various dimensions. Now, we can confidently engage with the world. We aim at overall transformation & not incremental changes. We shall convert the pandemic challenge into an opportunity. #AatmanirbharBharat will integrate not isolate.” she further added.

Fourth phase of lockdown nationwide will be in new form with new rules and guidelines, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday while addressing the nation. This was his fifth address to the nation since the coronavirus outbreak. Lockdown 4.0 is said to have more relaxations than previous ones and all the details related this lockdown will be further announced on 18th May.

Meanwhile, India has reported 122 deaths and 3,525 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the number of casualties to 2,415 on Wednesday while the total number of infections due to coronavirus crossed the 74,000-mark to reach 74,281.
