New Delhi: Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for the biennial elections for 16 Legislative Council seats on Tuesday for all 16 seats are local body constituencies. Voting for all 16 MLC (Member of Legislative Council) seats will be held on June 18th. It is noteworthy that due to the postponement of local body elections in Maharashtra, elections for these Legislative Council seats were also pending for a long time. However, with the recent local body elections, the path for elections to these 16 seats has now been completely cleared.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the schedule for the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) elections to 16 local authority constituencies, which were pending for a long time.
ECI Monday announced the schedule for the long-pending biennial elections to the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) from 16 local body constituencies. Voting will take place on June 18 and counting on June 22. The notification will be issued on May 25, and the last date for filing nominations is June 1. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 2, and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is June 4.
The 16 local body constituencies in Maharashtra where these elections are being held include almost all the major districts and divisions of the state. These include Thane, Solapur, Ahilyanagar (Ahmednagar), Jalgaon, Sangli-Satara, Nashik, Pune, Nanded, Yavatmal, Bhandara-Gondia, Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli, Amravati, Dharashiv-Latur-Beed, Parbhani-Hingoli, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Jalna.
The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for this biennial election has come into effect immediately in all relevant constituencies. Political parties and incumbent representatives in these districts must strictly adhere to the Election Commission’s Code of Conduct guidelines.
