New Delhi: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan to chair a meeting tomorrow (6 April) with the health ministers of the state and the UTs.   Hitting a grim milestone, India has recorded over 1 lakh COVID-19 cases in a span of 24 hours on Monday, the highest single daily spike in infections since the pandemic started last year. 

With the recent spike India has become the third nation after the US and Brazil to register six-digit figures. The US on January 8 surpassed 300,000 daily rises while Brazil Health Bulletin presented 100,158 cases and 2,77 deaths on March 25.

As per MoHFW the cumulative count of India reached 1,25,89,772 cases since the outbreak. So far 7,91,05,163 vaccines have been administered under the nation vaccination drive. 

From April 2, the government started vaccinating all citizens above 45 years. Initiating the world’s first and the largest inoculation drive on January 16, All FLWs and HCWs were inoculated on a priority basis.  Following which on March 1st people above the age of 60 and those between 45 and 59 years with specific comorbidities were provided the jabs.
