When the Bollywood superstar Salman Khan answered back at social media trolls, who have singled him out for his look and build, he has been backed by film-maker Rohit Shetty.
In the latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 20, Salman had brought out his jacket and T-shirt, and then walked off to the other side of the room to showcase his body to all the guests. The actor reeled this back following record online body shaming which involved being called “budha”, among other things.
It soon garnered a lot of attention on social media and some celebrities expressed support for the actor. Neha Dhupia and Varun Dhawan were among the few who showered praise on Salman for his “troll excepted” response.
Now Rohit Shetty is in their fold. The filmmaker released the clip of Salman on social media on Sunday, showingoff his physique. Sharing the video, Shetty said that he is an actor and voiced his support for the actor and asked the trolls to keep their minds on their academic studies.
He’s got to have only unconditional. While sharing the video, Rohit wrote the following, “Dear trollers it’s done, bro.”
Film maker Kunal Kohli has also lauded Salman for taking a stand on the bigger issue of acting online. In a post on ‘X’, Kohli echoed his views on the subject of social media etiquette, trolling, paparazzi culture and addressed some salient points applicable to the same issue by Salman.
Kohli also discussed individuals who engage and cheer others into such activities online, feeling that there hasn’t been a proportional improvement in the way everyone acts online with the rise of social media.
“Yo @BeingSalmanKhan, the things you have pointed out on social media etiquette, behaviour, trolls & paps and the people who follow such behaviour were super awesome! If Kohli says, then no one can say,” wrote the batsman in a letter to his friend.
This has since been discussed online and not a few members of the film industry have since came out in support of Salman’s stance against body shaming and social media bullying.
