NEW DELHI: India gets its second Apple store in Saket. The flagship store in the capital was inaugurated by Tim Cook moments ago. Ahead of the launch, scores of apple fans gathered in the lobby of the mall to witness the historic event.
Interestingly, the first-floor store, situated at South Delhi’s Select City Walk Mall- is smaller and more intimate than the Mumbai store. The visitors will be welcomed inside the store by the latest iPhone models, placed next to each other, in all available colours. Next in line will be different iPad models, arranged right opposite to a dedicated audio section, which showcases AirPods Max as well as the latest AirPods Pro 2. The visitors will also be greeted by separate sections of accessories, Apple TV, Apple Arcade and iMac.
There is not much architecutural fantasy unlike the Mumbai store .Apple has tried to give the store a local touch by using white oak tables to display Apple products and accessories. All these have been manufactured in India. The store also has a dedicated Apple Pickup station which makes it easier for customers to order online and collect their devices in-store at a convenient time. The Saket store is also carbon neutral and will run on 100 per cent renewable energy.
A 70-member multilingual retail team that comes from 18 states in India would provide the necessary help to the customers.
Ahead of the company’s second official retail store opening in India, Apple CEO Tim Cook met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday. Cook stressed that the company is committed to growing and investing across the country.
“Thank you Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the warm welcome. We share your vision of the positive impact technology can make on India’s future — from education and developers to manufacturing and the environment, we’re committed to growing and investing across the country,” Tim Cook tweeted.
