Following the arrest of party colleague Udayanidhi Stalin, the opposition DMK intensified its protest against the state government and echoed it as atrocities by the TVK government.
Spokesperson TKS Elangovan on Tuesday denied allegations that Udhayanidhi Stalin made personal remarks against Chief Minister Vijay and actress Trisha, asserting that the latter only listed out the failures of the government and did not mention the name of the actress during public meeting in Thanjavur.
Addressing the press, Elangovan alleged that the TVK does not care about the people of Tamil Nadu, claiming the party was formed solely with the aim of attacking DMK. “I listened to his entire speech. Nothing was said as people are saying. He only listed out the CM’s failures. Nothing was insulting in his speech. He did not even mention the name of the actress (Trisha). He was only attacking the govt. The problem with this govt is that they don’t care about the people of Tamil Nadu. They are being used by someone to attack DMK. Their party started only to attack us,” said TKS Elangovan.
‘ Not afraid of consequences ‘, said Udhayanidhi Stalin as his first response on being arrested.
Condemning the arrest, another DMK MP P. Wilson called it an ‘atrocious act’ by the state government. He alleged that the FIR was politically motivated and intended to divert the attention from issues concerning farmers and the people of Tamil Nadu. He also claimed that Udhayanidhi, like other oppositions, had merely criticized the CM for Suppressing dissent and denied that he made any personal remarks, describing the accusations as false and fabricated..
Udhayanidhi Stalin, was arrested on Tuesday morning from his home for his remarks against actress Krishna. A FIR under 5 sections has been filed including insulting the modesty of a woman, using obscene words in public, promoting enmity, provoking riot charge and the fifth is criminal conspiracy.
