Bengaluru: Four men in Bengaluru are accused of robbing an old woman’s house while posing as officials from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). On Monday, the accused entered the woman’s home under the guise of performing a door-to-door vaccination campaign. At roughly 11.30 p.m., the event occurred in Mathikere, Yeshwanthpur. According to police sources, the criminals broke into Pista Devi’s second-floor home.
On the same pretence, the accused questioned the woman if she had taken the second dosage of the COVID-19 vaccination and then entered the residence. When the tragedy occurred, Devi and her 25-year-old relative were inside the residence. When they entered, one of the defendants brandished a revolver and stole Devi’s cellphone. They confined the woman and her relative to a room and took two gold chains and other valuables. A food provider who brings tiffin boxes for Devi’s youngsters arrived at the backdoor as the accused were ransacking the residence.
When the accused noticed the man, he bolted. Devi then yelled for assistance, and the door was opened. Vikram Singh, the woman’s son, approached the cops two hours later and filed a report. According to a senior police official at the Yeshwanthpur police station, a complaint has been filed under the Indian Arms Act and Indian Penal Code sections 392 (robbery), 397 (robbery or dacoity with intent to inflict murder or serious bodily harm), and 342 (wrongful confinement) (IPC).
