Shortly after announcing his resignation, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday updated his bio on social media platform X.
At present, his bio profile describes Pradhan as a member of Parliament, Sambalpur. He removed the designation of Union Minister of Education hours after submitting the resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier on Saturday, Pradhan in a social media post, declared that he had submitted his resignation to PM Modi, hours prior to the third round of talks between CJP and the government.
“Keeping in mind that anti-national forces should not take advantage of the situation that has arisen at Jantar Mantar and across the country, that the unity of the nation remains intact, that the future of even a single student of India does not get entangled in legal complications, and that our children devote their time to studies and focus on building their careers — I have submitted my resignation to Hon’ble Prime Minister,” he said.
Subsequently, CJP called off the protests at Jantar Mantar. In a press conference with Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka said the protest was being ended in “good faith” that the government will keep its word to fulfil other demands of the students.
With one demand already met, the satirical political group’s spokespersons said the government has assured them that police cases filed against students would be withdrawn, no action would be taken against them in future, and maximum compensation as per rules and regulations would be given to the families of students who died by suicide over the NEET paper leak.”We urge all protesters to go home as the government has accepted our demands,” Saurav Das said in the presence of the two Union ministers.
