An Air India flight from Frankfurt was diverted to Jaipur following a security alert. Initial findings reveal the Delhi bound flight reported a bomb threat however an airport official revealed the alert was related to hijacking rumours.
After landing at the Jaipur international airport, Flight AI 2030 was moved to an isolation bay where personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) scanned the aircraft and passengers luggage.
It was a hijacking rumour, not a bomb threat. It’s too early to comment officially on the matter. An investigation is underway,” an airport official told on condition of anonymity.
The alert as per probe was raised as the aircraft approached Indian airspace. Following a coordination with ATC and security agencies the flight was diverted to Jaipur.
All passengers and crew members were safely evacuated and taken to a designated holding area in the airport terminal, according to preliminary information.
Official statement on the incident are yet to be issued. Neither the airport authorities nor the carrier officials have confirmed anything as of now.
Further details are awaited.
