2:48 pm : Cyclone landfall process to complete in one hour, will pass through Mumbai-Thane in next 3 hours.
The rear part of the wall cloud region is still over the sea and the landfall process will be completed in one hour. Its current intensity near the centre is 90-100 kmph to 110kmph. It will move northeastwards and weaken into a cyclonic storm during next 6 hrs, Said IMD
In view of cyclonic storm, Flights and trains to and from Mumbai have been cancelled. Section 144 has been imposed in the city.
Landfall near Raigad District:
The landfall process of Cyclone ‘Nisarga’ has begun and will continue for three hours, the India Meteorological Department said on Wednesday. The right side of the cyclone’s wall cloud passed through coastal Maharashtra, mainly covering the Raigad district.
“The centre of the cyclone is very close to the Maharashtra coast. The landfall process has started and it will be completed in three hours,” said IMD.
“The cyclone will gradually enter into Mumbai and Thane district during the next three hours,” stated IMD in its 12 p.m. bulletin. The cyclone is currently whirling with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph, gusting to 120 kilometres per hour 40 km away from Alibagh, 95 km from Mumbai and 325 km from Surat.
