INDIA: The time period for work from home norms was going to expire on July 31 but as the condition worsened day by day due to pandemic, the government on Tuesday instructed to extend the work from home norms for IT, BPO companies till December 31.
In a tweet, the Department of Telecommunications said, “DoT has further extended the relaxations in the terms and conditions for other service providers up to 31st December 2020 to facilitate work from home in view of the ongoing concern due to COVID-19.”
Currently, around 85 percent of the IT crew are working from home and only those with critical functions performing are visiting offices.
In March, the DoT had relaxed particular norms for OSPs till April 30 to enable work from home amid the coronavirus pandemic which was further extended till July 31, but now it has extended till December 31.
In India, Coronavirus cases have crossed 11.55 lakh-mark, taking the confirmed tally to 11,55,191 including 402529 active cases, 7,24,578 recovered and 28,084 deaths, according to health ministry’s figures released on Tuesday.
