India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a complete lockdown for 1.3 billion people from midnight for 3 weeks starting today while addressing the nation on some vital aspects related to Corona Virus outbreak.
“Forget about leaving home in the next 21 days. If you cross the Lakshman Rekha, you will invite the virus home,” PM Modi said in his second address to the nation in a week.
On the basis of the opinion of the experts, Narendra Modi said that 21 days social distancing is very important to break the chain of corona virus.
“If we do not care in these 21 days, the country will go back to 21 years. If this is not taken seriously then possibly, many families of the country will end forever. I am not saying this as a Prime Minister but as a member of your family. Forget to get out of the house for these 21 days. Do only one thing, stay at home” PM further added
The Prime Minister said to draw a Lakshman Rekha at the door of your house.
“You have to remember that a step outside your house can bring a serious epidemic like Corona to your home. You have to remember that many times a person infected with corona seems to be healthy in the beginning. It is not known that he is infected. So take precaution. Stay in homes as much you can.” said PM Narendra modi repeatedly in his entire half hour speech
Citing WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, PM pointed out that Corona is highly contagious and mapping its area is nearly impossible. He said COVID-19 took 67 days to spread to one lac people. To reach two lac people it took 11 days but it just 4 days it clawed another lac. making it a total of 3 lac worldwide.
The Prime Minister said that India is at that stage today, where today’s action will decide how much we can stop it. Modi appealed and said that we have to keep our word and also think about the people who are working in the hospital to save each and every life from this disaster. Think about doctors, nurses, ward boys. Think also about the people who are sanitizing the mohallas and lanes . Also think about the media and policemen who are doing duty day and night to save you. He said that the central and state governments to deal with the corona do not have problems in everyday life, so the supply of essential things is being ensured to continue. The World Health Organization and experts are being consulted.
