New Delhi: The Gautam Buddha Nagar district administration on Tuesday evening decided to seal the Delhi-Noida border as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of Covid-19. However, the administration mentioned certain services that will be allowed to make movements across the border.
Those directly associated with the fight against coronavirus along with those that have valid passes issued by government authorities will be allowed to move.


Media personnel, having specific passes issued by the District Information Officer or Additional Superintendent of Police Gautam Buddha Nagar only will also be allowed.


Others exceptions include ambulances, small and heavy vehicles carrying essentials commodities, officials of the Central government with passes issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and doctors and health workers employed with hospitals and emergency services in the district.
The newly-appointed District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Suhas LY on Tuesday tweeted, “Dear residents, as per the medical department advice, in the larger public interest, as a preventive measure to fight COVID-19, we are closing Delhi-GB Nagar/Noida broder completely, with following specified exceptions. Stay Home Stay Safe.”


So far, 102 Covid-19 positive cases have been reported from Gautam Buddha Nagar district with maximum cases related to the Ceasefire company. An FIR was lodged against the company and the office was also sealed by the district authorities.


According to the latest data provided by Uttar Pradesh Health Department, 137 new coronavirus positive cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the tally in the state to 1,337.


Out of 37,933 patients that were tested for coronavirus, 36,378 have tested negative while reports of 218 are still awaited.


A total of 21 deaths have been reported from the state including one each from Basti, Varanasi, Bulandshehar, Kanpur, Lucknow, Firozabad and Aligarh while three deaths have occurred in Meerut, five in Moradabad and six in Agra.
