NEW DELHI: The death toll due to coronavirus has risen to 779 in India while the cases have jumped to 24942, the Ministry of Health updated on Saturday. About 1490 new cases of the virus and 56 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours. According to the official figures.

Currently there are 18,953 active cases, while 5210 people have been cured/discharged/migrated.According to the official figures, Maharashtra continued to remain on the top with 6817 confirmed cases of the virus and 301 deaths.With 21 new COVID19 positive cases being reported in Dharavi on Saturday, the total number of positive cases in the area is now 241 including 14 deaths, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.Total 96 Police personnel in maharastra have tested positive for COVID19 till Saturday, Seven of the those have recovered so far.

Gujarat stands at second with 2815 patients and 127 deaths. Next in line is Delhi with about 2514 infections while 53 succumbed to the disease. Followed by Rajasthan with 2034 cases and 27 deaths.

The total number of active coronavirus cases in West Bengal stands at 423. The death toll is 18, and 105 people have been discharged after recovery. Meanwhile Himachal Pradesh has reported 40 cases of COVID19 so far, out of which 15 are active. 20 patients have recovered while one person succumbed to the infection, the State Health Department said.

On other hand Seven new cases of COVID19 have been reported in Kerala today, taking the total number of cases to 457 in the state out of which 116 cases are active, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said. COVID19 cases rise to 238 in Bihar, with 10 more people testing positive today. Our of the new cases, five have been reported in Kaimur, four in Buxar and one in Patna.
