New Delhi: As per the latest data updated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on its official website, a total of 8,689 people have been tested positive with the COVID-19 virus in the last 1 day, taking the overall caseload of the nation to 1,08,47,790. Besides, the nation currently has 1,41,118 active cases.
Also, a total of 13,575 patients, who suffered from the viral ailment, has been finally tested negative after going through the necessary treatment. The number of recovered patients in the last 24 hours has taken the overall number of recovered people to 1,05,46,905.
On a happy note, India has been witnessing a steep decline in the rate of fatality since the last few days, whilst the nationwide overall death count in the latest tally is 77, which is a significant decrease in the death toll. The overall death count in India, however, stands at 1,55,195, in addition with the latest count.
It is noteworthy that the country has been running the world’s largest inoculation drive with 2 indigenous vaccines namely Covishield and Covaxin since January 16 of the ongoing year. Till now, a total of 58,12,362 doses have been administered by the health ministry.
