New Delhi: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in its latest tally, has reported 20,460 fresh cases of COVID-19 infected people across the states in the last 24 hours. With this, the overall caseload in the country currently stands at 1,03,95,938.
There are a total of 2,25,104 active cases nationwide. 19,689 people have recovered since yesterday, taking the total number of recovered people in the country to 1,00,16,190. On the other hand, after 222 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has mounted to 1,50,373.
According to a report published by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in India, a total of 73 people have been tested positive for the new mutant variant of the COVID-19 virus.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, has taken to their Twitter handle to share the number of samples they have tested till now. The tweet says, the research council has tested a total of 17,84,00,995 samples up to January 6, 2021, among which, the number of samples tested on January 6, is 9,37,590.
If we take a glance at the global caseload, which has been published by the Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) this morning, we can find out that the current caseload stands at 87,150,958 globally, while the number of deceased people worldwide has reached 1,881,926.
