INDIA: On Friday, India has breached the bleak milestone of 5 lakh-mark.In the last 24 hours, 18,552 new coronavirus cases were recorded – highest in a single day. A total of 5,08,953 people in India have been tested COVID19 positive so far.
While there are still 1,97,387 active cases nationwide and the death tally has increased to 15,685, hope remains as total recovery now stands at 58.13% and 2,95,881 people have been cured or discharged from the hospital.
With 1,52,765 cases recorded in total, 65,844 active cases, 7,106 deaths and 79,815 patients recovering from the virus; Maharashtra continues to hold the title for the worst affected state.
In terms of total cases, with a tally count of 77,240 cases, 27,657 active cases, 2,492 deaths and 47,091 patients recovered; national capital- Delhi stands at second in the list of worst hit states in the country.

With an increase of three times in testing rate, Delhi Chief Minister claimed that the situation in the capital is under control. This was mentioned on Friday in a press conference conducted by Kejriwal.
Third on the list is the state of Tamil Nadu with 74,622 total cases, 32,308 active ones, growing death tally to 957 and 41,357 recovered cases.
On Friday, as per the World Health Organisation the Covid-19 cases have increased to over 9.4 million and the death toll has reached over 4,80,000, around the world.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand became the second state after West Bengal to extend the lockdown till July 31. “Considering the seriousness of the situation, the state government has decided to extend the lockdown till 31 July,” Chief Minister Hemant Soren tweeted.
Three months after they closed down following the coronavirus-induced lockdown, Restaurants and shopping malls reopened in Chhattisgarh on Friday and the malls in Gurgaon are likely to re-open next week. At a press conference on Friday, the officials said that directions to this effect would soon be issued. West Bengal Bengal Chief Minister too relaxed its night curfew to 10 pm-5 am and said that the government wants the Metro Rail services in Kolkata to resume from July 1.
