New Delhi: In an Interview with NDTV, MP Mahua Moitra made a controversial statement about the donation for Ram Mandir construction.
She released a statement about ceasing financial aid to the Ram Mandir and oppressed people to keep a cross outside their house instead. To which she later, reprimanded.
Who is Mahua Moitra?
Contested for the first time in 2016
Mahua contested the first election of her life for the West Bengal Assembly in 2016. She won the election from Kareempur constituency in Nadia and defeated her nearest CPI (M) ‘s Samendra Ghosh by 16,000 votes. Since then, she’s known to be a strong and competent MLA from the West Bengal Assembly.
Contested for Lok Sabha elections in 2019
Ms. Moitra relinquished her assembly seat to contest the parliamentary elections. She contested the Parliament from Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency and defeated BJP’s Kalyan Choubey by over 63 thousand votes.
She has been an admiration to her opponents since first speech; where she attacked the government over the NRC issue. She is considered to be the most talented Parliamentarian among the recently elected MPs of Parliament.
In 2015, Mahua became embroiled in controversies when she showed her middle-aged debate on the national channel. In 2017, she filed a defamation case against BJP member Babul Supriyo and accused him of tarnishing her character.
