Recently, Congress national spokesperson Shama Mohamed drew flak when she termed Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma fat and doubted his leadership capabilities, but it seems she now has some kind words for the panel, following their semi-final victory against Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Shama Mohamed, the Congress spokesperson, in an interview with a news agency, was happy that India won under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. “Thankfully, under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, India won the semi-final match against Australia. For scoring 84 runs, I congratulate Virat Kohli.” She is very excited and looking forward to the finals.
She also wished the team well and singled out Virat Kohli in her message on X (formerly Twitter). In her post, she wrote:
“Congratulations to #TeamIndia for their spectacular victory against Australia in the semifinals of the Champions Trophy 2025. A big shout out to@imVkohli for scoring 84 and to be the first player to score 1000 runs in ICC knock out tournaments !”
Her contrast comments concerning Rohit Sharma’s personal and captaincy were made just days earlier, when she praised Kohli and the team. She even took to calling him unfit for a captain, asking him to get in shape.
“Fat boy Rohit Sharma ought not to be a sportsperson! Needs to lose weight! Of course, the most unimpressive captain India has had!” she had posted.
In another post, she even questioned Rohit Sharma as a leader and compared him to his predecessors, with whom Rohit seems to be a mediocre captain and just a lucky man who led the team india.
Cricket fans and the political circles reacted strongly to her earlier comments, forcing her to delete the posts on her party’s orders. Nevertheless, her latest message congratulating Rohit Sharma yet again had once again elicited reactions regarding her takes on Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
