New Delhi: India recorded 6,317fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 98.40 per cent accounted for 6,906 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,42,01,966.
The number of active cases stood at 78190 accounting for 0.22 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline by 907 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.38 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 318 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,78,325.
Amid signs of rise in Omicron infections, the Centre wrote to the states instructing them to activate “war rooms” and bring back curbs, including night curfews to contain it. It also enlisted prevention and containment measures to curtail the spread. The letter called for foresightedness, strict vigilance, dynamic decision making and prompt action to curb the spread before it reaches the threshold.
Apart from Delhi and Maharashtra which are recorded 57 and 54 Cases respectively. Southern states Telangana has documented 24 I infections, while Kerala logged 15 cases. First state that confirmed Omicron case, Karnataka currently has 19 active omicron cases. Meanwhile, Rajasthan and Gujrat also record double digit cases.
As per the statistics reported to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, so far 138.95 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country including 57.05 lakh doses given in the last 24 hours.
