DELHI: In the wake of coronavirus pandemic, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reduced the syllabus by one-third from Class 9th to 12th exams next year, said the HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Tuesday.

Announcing it on Twitter, HRD Minister said “Considering the importance of learning achievement, it has been decided to rationalize CBSE syllabus up to 30% by retaining the core concepts”

All the suggestions are based on learning outcomes from various educationists, parents, teachers and ministry received more than 1500 responses over curtailing of the syllabus, he further added.

According to the reports, For Classes 8 and below, CBSE-affiliated schools will have to freedom to rationalise the syllabus on their own.

In early April, CBSE had already made a few changes to the CBSE syllabus in light of the Covid-19 problems. These changes were majorly for the practical portions of various subjects.
