New Delhi: India recorded 2,47,417 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate at 95.59 per cent accounted for 84,825 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,47,15,361. The daily positivity rate stood at 13.11 per cent.
The number of active cases stood at 11,17,531 accounting for 3.08 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a rise of 1,62,212 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.34 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 380 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,85,035. Omicron variant cases tally rose to 5,488 the Union Health Ministry said today morning.
Citing the drastic surge, PM Modi is scheduled to hold a review meeting with the CMs of all states. This is the second review meeting by the prime minister with a week. The Centre on Wednesday said lateral flow tests, which includes rapid-antigen and home-antigen tests, can detect Covid from the third day after exposure to the virus to day eight while the RT-PCR test can diagnose the infection for up to 20 days.
The health bulletin documented 154.61 crore cumulative vaccinations under the nationwide vaccination drive, including 76.32 lakh administrations in the past 24 hours.
