NEW DELHI: Latest reports state that Shardda Walker murder accused- Aaftab Amin Poonawala has withdrawn his bail plea in the Delhi court citing miscommunication. The bail application was erroneously filed without Aftab’s consent, the court said.
The decision to withdraw the bail plea came after a 50-minute-long discussion with Aaftab on Monday- said his lawyer MS Khan. Meanwhile, the Delhi police in response to the bail request had urged the Saket court to reject the plea, as the crime had deeply impacted the society and relief would negatively favor the other criminal minds.
A day earlier, Maha Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that a special SIT would be established to probe the Shraddha Walker murder case. He also announced that the probe findings will be disclosed to the legislature in the budget session of the state legislature. The decision came in the backdrop of a complaint against Aaftab Amin Poonawala in 2020, alleging that he threatened to kill Shraddha and cut her into pieces. The probe revealed that Shraddha had filed a complaint with the Tulinj police station in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, alleging that Aaftab had assaulted her and threatened to kill her.
