HYDERABAD: At least 8, including a minor have been arrested by Shankarpally police for allegedly assaulting their junior on the pretext of ragging. A total of 12 students were booked by the police in the case. A LOC has been issued for those absconding. The arrest was sought after the student filed a complaint against the seniors who brutally trashed and abused, and sexually assaulted him. Moreover, the top college management has been ordered to appear before the police.
A video of the incident that took place on November 1st has gone viral. In the video, the victim Himank Bansal, a third-year student at ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE) in Hyderabad, is kicked slapped, and physically assaulted. He is also heard chanting “Jai Mata Di’ and ” Allahu akbar” as the accused continues beating him. The boy in his complaint further mentioned that the students threatened to beat him to death if he didn’t take his trousers off.
“We want to fix his ideology. We will beat him into coma and he will remember a whole new world,” an accused said. One of them snatched his wallet and told another, “Take all the money you want.”
The business school, in a statement, said it has “zero tolerance towards such undesirable acts”. The institution said, “they had acted with alacrity and taken a decision to suspend all 12 concerned students” involved in the incident.
