Haryana Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar tested positive for coronavirus infection on Monday exactly two days ahead of the monsoon session of the assembly on 26 August

As per the latest update, CM Khattar has been shifted to a private hospital in Gurugram and currently undergoing treatment.

After Khattar’s result came positive, a team of doctors headed by Dr R S Chauhan, the head of MLA hostel dispensary and CM House, reached the CM residence. The medical team consulted senior doctors and specialists and the CM was rushed to PGIMER Chandigarh for tests and consultation. Later, close to midnight, the 66-year-old was shifted to a private hospital in Gurugram for treatment. 

Sources in the Haryana health department had earlier indicated that private hospitals in Gurugram and Panchkula had been kept on standby for the CM.

The chief minister took to Twitter to inform about his well being status and asked his nearby contacts to move into self-isolation.

I was tested for Novel CoronaVirus today. My test report has returned positive.

I appeal to all colleagues and associates who came in my contact over the last week to get themselves tested. I request my close contacts to move into strict quarantine immediately.,” he tweeted. 

 

Khattar had on Thursday chosen to go into home isolation after he had gone to a gathering with Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who was additionally found infected with the infectious disease. 

Earlier on Monday, Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta and two other BJP MLAs likewise tested positive for COVID-19. “The gathering speaker and MLAs Aseem Goel and Ram Kumar have tested positive for coronavirus,” Anil Vij, who is likewise the state’s home minister, told PTI. 

Gupta tweeted that he got himself tested for COVID-19 on Sunday and his report came positive. He said he was feeling OK and had confined himself at his home on the guidance of doctors.
