New Delhi: India reported 23,529 fresh infections in the past 24 hours, Union Ministry reported. The recovery rate at 97.85 per cent accounted for 28,718 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,30,14,898. The daily positivity rate stood at 1.56 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 31 consecutive days.
The number of active cases stood at 2,77,020 accounting for 0.82 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 5,500 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.33 per cent reported a spike in deaths recording 311 fatalities, taking the cumulative death toll to 4,48,062.
Kerala continues to lead the states in COVID count. Tamil Nadu reported 1,624 new infections pushing the overall count to 26,62,177 while 24 deaths occurred.
India’s cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination coverage reached 88.34 crores, the Union Health Ministry. Nearly, 65.34 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. ICMR on Wednesday conducted the sampling of 15,06,254. Overall, since the inception of the pandemic, 56.89 lakh infected samples have been tested.
