The Delhi HC on Friday postponed the hearing on actor Salman Khan’s plea seeking to restrain the filming rights, promotion and release of the proposed film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy. Salman khan claimed that the movie is attempting to leverage his life and persona without his approval. The court granted the Kala Hiran producers additional time to respond. They indicated that they had only received a copy of the application on Wednesday, June 17.

Justice Madhu Jain, who heard the matter, heard both sides of the case and it will now be listed before the roster bench on July 1. Salman’s advocate Sandeep Sethi asked the Court for interim protection after arguing that Kala Hiran damages the star’s image and uses it in promotion without his consent.

On the contrary, the makers shared that the producer had allegedly been receiving death threats and had filed an FIR on the matter. The respondents, including producer Jani, Jani FireFox Films, director Bharat Shrinate, Akshay Pandey and others involved with the film, opposed the grant of any interim relief in the case.

Following the release of the poster for Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, Salman Khan had filed a complaint claiming the use of his identity without his consent. In the poster, a character made to look like Salman was shown with a gun donning a blue and silver braclet mimicing the one worn by the Bollywood actor. The actor was acquitted of using a firearm in the 1998 blackbuck hunting case under the Arms Act. However, Salman was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000 for his role in the blackbuck poaching case, which occurred during the filming of Hum Saath-Saath Hain.
