Bihar Storm: 23 people died in Bihar on Monday after being hit by the storm, rain and lightning that came like death from the sky. At the same time, more than 18 people are reported to be injured. The maximum number of deaths occurred in East Champaran and Gaya, 5 people each. Apart from this, devastation was also seen in Gaya, Rohtas, Vaishali, Aurangabad and Bhojpur. At some places, children playing and at other places, people work in the fields, becoming victims of this heavenly havoc.
5 deaths each in East Champaran and Gaya
The storm, rain and lightning that hit Motihari and Gaya districts on Monday caused massive destruction. In Rupadih village of the Mufussil police station area, a tree fell due to strong winds, under which a tempo got crushed. During this, 3 people riding in the tempo died after being crushed by the tree. At the same time, two people were seriously injured. On the other hand, 2 children died tragically due to lightning in Kaithwalia village of Sugauli block, while one person got injured.
3 people died in Aurangabad
The havoc of lightning was also seen in Dehri of Rohtas, where some laborers were hiding under a truck to save themselves from the rain. During this time, lightning struck the truck itself. One laborer died due to the impact. Five laborers were seriously burnt. Apart from this, one person each died due to falling of a tree and a wall in the flood. 3 people died due to lightning in Aurangabad. While five people were injured.
In Sitamarhi, a power pole fell on a bike during a storm. Two women, sisters-in-law, were killed in the incident. Similarly, one woman each died in Lalganj, Vaishali, and Gulzarpur, Bhojpur. A 20-year-old man also died in Salempur village, Bhojpur.
CM Samrat announced compensation
Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary expressed his deep condolences over the deaths of five people in East Champaran, four in Gayaji, and three in Aurangabad due to lightning, storms, and heavy rains in the state. He stated that he stands with the affected families in this hour of disaster. He also directed compensation of four lakh rupees to the families of the deceased.
CM Samrat has appealed to the public to exercise utmost caution during bad weather. Follow the advice issued from time to time by the Disaster Management Department to protect yourself from lightning during bad weather. Stay indoors and stay safe during bad weather.
