Will Yash’s Toxic close in on Rs 250 crore milestone with Mirzapur:The movie in competition
Slowing down at the box office, Yash’s starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups picked up its pace on the second weekend. On Day 11, the film recorded a rise of 34% in its India net collection, according to a trade tracker.
In India alone, the Geetu Mohandas directorial collected Rs 2.35 crore net across 1,927 shows on its second Saturday, taking the film’s total India net collection to Rs 243.40 crore, while India’s gross collection stands at Rs 290.50 crore.
The film has continued to earn from the overseas market as well. On its 11th day, it added Rs 75 lakh to its total overseas gross collection, taking it to Rs 44 crore, thus making its worldwide gross figure Rs 334.50 crore.
The film will now face growing competition from Mirzapur: The Movie and Hanuman Ansh.
Mirzapur: The Movie, in particular, has opened strongly and crossed Rs 20 crore in India on its first day, adding pressure to Toxic‘s box office performance.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is a period gangster drama set against the backdrop of Goa. The narrative is set up around Raya, played by Yash, who becomes deeply involved with the criminal underworld and navigates violence, ambition, family dynamics, and complicated relationships.
He appears in a dual role as Raya and Tikit, while Nayanthara plays his sister Ganga. Kiara Advani portrays Nadia, with Rukmini Vasantha as Melissa, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Akshay Oberoi part of the ensemble cast.
The film was released on August 26 in multiple languages, including Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and English. It also received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification.
The Kannada version was reported to have a runtime of 194 minutes and 12 seconds, making the film approximately three hours and 14 minutes long. The English version, on the contrary, is said to be 17 minutes shorter than the original version, which began its theatrical run in India on September 4.
