Karan Johar’s latest film, “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani “, is receiving acclaim, from both audiences and critics resulting in a showing at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk the film demonstrated its resilience on Monday by earning an estimated Rs 7.50 crore. This brings its collection to a Rs 53.40 crore in just four days since its release.
This star studded romantic comedy drama features a cast including Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. The film opened on Friday with earnings of Rs 11.10 crore, which may not have been exceptionally high considering its scale and budget. However it gained momentum over the weekend with earnings of Rs 16.05 crore on Saturday and Rs 18.75 crore on Sunday. With no major competition until August 11th when “Gadar 2” hits theaters, “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” has a path, at the box office.
When comparing its Monday earnings to releases this year “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” outperformed Vicky Kaushal’s “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke” (Rs 4.14 crore) and Kartik Aaryans “Satyaprem Ki Katha” (Rs 3.90 crore).
However, it lags behind in terms of earnings compared to “The Kerala Story” which made Rs 10.03 crore and “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan” which made Rs 10.17 crore. The first position is still held by “Pathaan,” which amassed Rs 26.50 crore making it the earning Bollywood film of the year up, to this point.
