Ending speculations about part two of the epic mythological series, producer Namit Malhotra has ruled out the possibility of turning Ramayana into a trilogy.
While the makers have settled on a two-part format for Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious retelling of the epic story, Malhotra has confirmed that the second installment will arrive in theatres during Diwali 2028.
For those who’ve already watched the first installment of Ramayana Part One, the end credits confirmed the second part would arrive the next year.
In an interview prior to the release of the film, Malhotra said, “So the idea was, now that we’ve got so much excitement that the world has had, we want to take a little bit more time to make sure that when we present the grand finale, we have a little bit more time to do what we did on Part One.”
He further went on to mention that an extra year is what he genuinely believes is needed to do justice to a film of this size.
“When you see part 2 coming in, that will be a whole other story. We didn’t want to do a rush job or get ahead of ourselves. We want to deliver the finale in the most grand way that it deserves,” he said.
Pointing out that the team had already created two versions of the first film with different runtimes and approaches for Indian and international audiences, Malhotra asserted that the audience’s response to Part One would play a major role in deciding the baseline for the second part.
The film’s visual scale has been one of the talking points ever since it came into the industry. Ramayana: Rise of Legend establishes its world right from the opening, with its reported Rs 2,000 crore budget reflected in everything from landscapes and architecture to weapons, costumes, creatures and celestial realms.
The grand visuals have drawn comparisons with The Lord of the Rings, while the Pushpak Viman battle sequence has also received praise from audiences, who compared it to Tesla’s latest launch.
The film hits the silver screens on November 5, 2026, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
