Actor Rakesh Bedi has been talking about the current drama inside the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), saying he is disappointed in the state of affairs in the association and hopes the conflicts can be solved soon. The actor, who has been recently seen in Dhurandhar, also discussed the efforts and contributions the artistes were making towards the well-being of other members of the fraternity.
Speaking to a news agency, Bedi reminiscing, said about the musical program organised in 2024 to celebrate the birth centenary of legendary actor-film maker Raj Kapoor. Poonam Dhillon, Padmini Kolhapure and her team led the event. Artistes had spilt lots of resources and time to make it a reality, Bedi said.
Many actors have time on their hands and are contributing to people’s lives, efforts like that are part of the social work, said Bedi. He also said it was important to remember the contributions of all the artistes who have worked for years, even though there is a current dispute.
Bedi also gave the details that he personally gave the money to honour Raj Kapoor. He has never discussed the contribution publicly, adding that he contributed a lot from his pocket for fellow artistes’ benefit.
One of the points on the dispute surrounding the CINTAA is the issue of how the association operates. In August 11 members resigned, including 8 elected members to the executive committee, due to allegations of decision-making and how the organisation works. Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure, who are included in the leadership, are rejecting the allegations.
The differences remained, but Bedi said that he hoped it was sorted out. He also noted that the feud did not impact his professional relationship with other artists adding that an artist’s personal relationship needs to be intact despite differences, which should be professional.
