Renowned Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi has expressed his concerns regarding the ‘A’ certification assigned to his movie “OMG 2”. Speaking at an event, Tripathi shared his surprise, mentioning that while they expected movies like “Gangs Of Wasseypur” to receive such a rating, they didn’t anticipate it for “OMG 2”. Tripathi highlighted that the target audience for the film mainly falls within the age range of 12 to 17.
He stated, “We were taken aback because we believed in the quality of our content. Movies like ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ clearly deserved an adult rating. It was unexpected for ‘OMG 2’. It’s unfortunate that teenagers, who are our intended audience won’t be able to watch the film.”
Expanding on his perspective, Tripathi proposed a reevaluation of the film certification process. “There is a need for a ground between U/A and A categories. The recent introduction of the Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill shows some developments, in the industry. I genuinely hope that authorities consider refining the certification system.”
During the event, Yami Gautam, who is also starring in “OMG 2”, talked about how their film’s being released at the same time as Sunny Deol’s “Gadar 2”. She mentioned her admiration for Deol. Even reminisced about his handpump scene from the original “Gadar”. Yami expressed that both films target audiences. She gave an example from Hollywood where two movies, “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” were released together, and both did well in their spaces. Yami hopes for an outcome in Bollywood, wishing success for both their film and ‘Gadar 2’.
