Mirzapur: The Movie nears Rs 100 Crore mark on first Monday after strong opening weekend
Gurmeet Singh’s action crime film Mirzapur: The Movie is on the verge of crossing the Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office following a strong opening weekend.
The film, which chronicles the tale of the popular Prime Video India series, has done a spectacular job of performance but lacked the Bollywood juggernauts. The film has grossed Rs 93.75 crore so far in India, and has a net requirement of about Rs 6 crore to join the league of movies that have net crores in excess of Rs 100 crore, according to the figures.
The film made the biggest opening ever on its first day with a highest single-day collection of Rs 36 crore in 11,344 shows. Its Saturday collection of Rs 32 crore had been from 11,256 shows and was a 12.5% increase from this.
Mirzapur: The Movie grossed Rs 25.75 crore in 11,135 screenings on its first day, on Friday. This has led to the collection of Rs 93.75 crore worth of domestic film at the box office in the opening three days.
The Hindi language release has been the biggest earner of the film. Meanwhile, the Telugu remake has managed to collect some Rs 75 lakh compared to the overall collection, reports Sacnilk.
The movie is expected to see a drop in revenue on a weekday and with about Rs 6 crore needed to hit Rs 100 crore at the doorsteps, it can accomplish it the first Monday. It has taken its trajectory well during this weekend, setting itself up positively at the box office.
The film has also-made it across the Rs 100 crore revenue mark all over the world. Its overseas gross took a bump up to Rs 20 crore during the first two days after a Sunday addition to its overseas gross of Rs 7 crore. The domestic gross of the Mirzapur: The Movie is Rs 112.35 crore and its worldwide gross is Rs 132.35 crore.
It is a promising debut for the franchise, and might contribute to selling the Mirzapur universe more than ever among its viewers.
