Mirzapur: The Movie gets A certificate after CBFC orders cuts to intimate scenes and abuses
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given Mirzapur: The Movie an ‘A’ certificate, following a few cuts of intimate scenes and sexy shots that included the replacement of an abusive word, agreed by the producers of the film.
The CBFC reportedly has recommended the filmmakers cut intimate scenes in the movie by 50 per cent by making adjustments to the visuals and sound. The changes in the script were added in two scenes: in the first half and after the break. Therefore approximately 35 seconds of close-up material was cut from the film.
The censor board also advised makers to change the following obscenities: four times at the straightforward and six times at the abusive language. In one case in the first half, the word was changed to “Kamar”, but in the second half the word “lanth”, which translates to “idiot”, was changed. Other derogatory language was also substituted with appropriate language.
Then there was the addition of a dialogue with a line of “galey se lag gar” that was also changed. Even though cuts and changes were ordered with regard to words and intimate content, interestingly, the violent and gory parts of the film never got the chop at the CBFC.
After this changes were made the film received its censor certificate. The certificate states that Mirzapur: The Movie has a runtime of 3 hours, 17 minutes and 19 seconds.
It also states that the movie is the copyright of the CBFC’s Revising Committee (RC). The RC considers movie when the producers want to reach a determination on modification and/or certification that went the opposite on initial consideration. The action crime thriller is helmed by Gurmeet Singh, who tells the gripping tale as former competitors and new challengers clash for the empire of power and control in the shadows of the underworld Kingdom of Mirzapur.
It stars Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar amongst others. The release date of Mirzapur: The Movie had been announced in the films sector as September 4 in the poster release.
