Milind Soman, the fitness icon and actor, has yet again managed to pull off an amazing feat by accomplishing an incredible 15-kilometer swim across the Strait of Gibraltar, thus adding another feather to his cap. The “Iron Man” of India who turned 60 last year has once again proved that it’s just a number when it comes to his endless endurance challenge.
In an extremely adventurous act carried out on May 1, 2026, Soman crossed the water body from Europe to Africa via Tarifa, the coastal town of Spain to the shores of Morocco. Considered as one of the most hazardous water bodies, the Strait of Gibraltar is famous not only for its dangerous currents, but also because of the presence of several ships and vessels passing through it every day. Posting his amazing feat on Instagram, Milind called it “Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.”
He was referring to both the geographical beauty of the area and the mental and physical strength required for the same. “1st of May, I swam from Europe to Africa… 15km at the closest point,” he stated on his Instagram handle.
The transoceanic swim marks yet another high-intensity feat for Soman in 2026. Not too long ago, he successfully covered a distance of 20 kilometers in the seas off the coast of Goa in less than eight hours. The recent victory in the strait serves to underscore his commitment to a rigorous workout program, where long-distance running and open water swim training complement each other.
Soman’s feat is not only celebrated as an athletic accomplishment; it is recognized as a lesson in longevity. Where the oceanic environment posed a challenge for his physique, it did not come close to stopping him from proving his credentials as a holistic wellness icon across the globe.
