“Don’t judge Jananayakan by its box office numbers”, said director Vinoth, as Tamil Nadu CM’s last cinematic venture grossed over Rs 200 crore worldwide by day four of its release. Ever since its release Jana nayagan has maintained an upward trajectory at the box office. After crossing the Rs 100 crore net mark in India within three days, the political thriller earned Rs 32 crores net on Sunday, taking the total Indian net collection to Rs 124.75 crores, while the gross Indian earning stands at Rs 147.33 crore. Globally, Jananayakan has grossed Rs 217.48 crores.
On day five so far, the politically motivated Vijay film saw an overall 69.04% occupancy across 12,107 shows, while the morning shows at 59.23%, and afternoon shows account for 76%, while the evening shows went up a little higher at 78.46%, with a drop reported in the night shows.Vijay’s home town Chennai, along with Coimbatore, recorded the highest earnings with overall occupancies of 93.5% and 91.8%, respectively. Bengaluru, meanwhile, posted a relatively lower overall occupancy of 54.3%.

In terms of tickets, the movie has emerged as the biggest seller on BookMyShow, recording an estimated 3.15 million tickets sold during its four-day opening weekend and generating approximately 4.81 million footfalls across India.
At the oversees market, the film came as a big achievement in Singapore, Singapore, where it debuted at No. 2 on the Shaw Theatres Top 10 chart across the leading multiplex chain. The Vijay starrer outperformed several major Hollywood releases and finished behind only The Odyssey, highlighting its exceptional reception in a key international market.
