Hanuman Ansh and Toxic are just in opposite directions on the box office. Hanuman Ansh started theatrical life on a much quieter scale which was never to be the case for Toxic that, despite being the bigger release, got well-attending occupancy and an even larger number of shows.
But the scenes have had a dramatic turnaround since their releases, however. Hanuman Ansh netted Rs 8.50 crore net on his 26th day while Toxic netted Rs 5.25 crore net on his 7th day on the Hindi market.
The contrast is even starker when they are compared on the box office statistics. Toxic took off with over 24,000 shows in India, but that number dropped by almost 45% just under a week. It’s also had a significant drop from the opening day in terms of occupancy.
But Hanuman Ansh had just somewhere around 10% occupancy with just a handful of shows. The film didn’t lose momentum, but actually gained some in the process as it slowly gained setting and audience. By the fourth week it had edged passed the 46% occupancy percentage and there was a higher show count.
To put it another way: Toxic was big in the beginning but is losing steam, whereas Hanuman Ansh was slow initially and is making little impact now.
In this regard, this performance of Hanuman Ansh has been termed as a big success by the trade analyst who added that the film has now assumed responsibility of Hindi movies being released in theatres. The analyst noted that since the day one it has been growing in this range from Rs 8 lakh to the near vicinity of Rs. 50 crore.
