Fame Punjabi Singer, Daler Mehndi was sentenced to two years in jail on Thursday in the alleged human trafficking case. The case dates back to the year 2003 in which the district court sent him behind the bars ordering immediate arrest of the singer. The court in Patiala upheld the conviction of Daler Mehndi in an illegal immigration racket case. The order was pronounced after 15 years.
Patiala Additional Sessions Judge HS Grewal passed the order on Thursday finding the Punjabi singer guilty in the said case. Reportedly, a total of 31 cases have been filed against Daler Mehndi and his brother Shamsher Singh. Shamsher Singh breathed his last in October 2017. The judgment came as a surprise for the Punjabi and Hindi film fraternity.
Meanwhile, two days before popular veteran actor Raj Babbar was sentenced to jail to two years in jail in a case which dates back to 1996. The MP- MLA Court in Lucknow announced the judgement on Tuesday where Raj Babbar was punished for misbehaving with an Election Officer 26 years ago. In 1996, he misbehaved with an on duty officer, he has also been fined a sum of Rs. 8500 in the said case.
