Now several Bollywood celebrities have weighed in on the issue for students who are protesting the ongoing protest movement known as Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in Jantar Mantar in Delhi, encouraging peace-keeping instead of resorting to force.
Actor Pooja Bhatt, who was a witness to the media violence, said, “I am displeased with the way the government has responded, and I think peaceful protest should be treated with sensitivity and not detained.”
She posted on social media that she was “deeply saddened” by the “disregard” of students and would urge them to “rise in peaceful protests instead of retaliating with detentions and other such punishments”.
Actor Chitrangda Singh was also with the protesters who said that during tough times, young voices should be heard.
She urged the authorities to respond with empathy and action, urging them to “listen to the students dream, listen when it is suffering”.
Brij Bhushan Dubey, an activist from the Panchayat, lashed out at any/all resort to “force” on the demonstrators.Panchayat activist Brij Bhushan Dubey pointed at a possibility of using force on the demonstrations and condemned the activity.
“If one of them is struck by the police, then the whole Universe will not forgive them,” he said and also added “Kids I am there with you.”
Meanwhile, actor Richa Chadha mentioned the movement has over grown the initial organisers.
The protest has become larger than those who initiated it, she added, “Cockroach hi kya, haathi, sher, ghoda, gilehari, titli, chidiya sab aa gaye.
Huma Qureshi, Wamiqa Gabbi, Abhinav Sharma among others have also come with their good wishes for the protesters in the public domain to support them in their protest.
