Karjat: It is, with sadness, that Nitin Chandrakant Desai, a renowned art director who was 57 years old has passed away. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. They have not yet disclosed the cause. Initial reports suggest that it could be a suicide. On the morning of August 2nd Desai’s lifeless body was discovered at his N D Studio in Karjat. He was highly respected in his field. He won the National Award four times for his outstanding work in art direction. His talent extended beyond Bollywood as he also designed sets for productions like Slumdog Millionaire and the television show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
Desai’s contributions to cinema were immense as he played a role in shaping the visual storytelling of some of Bollywood’s most iconic movies such as Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar, Munnabhai M.B.B.S. And Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Maharashtra MLA Mahesh Baldi has confirmed Desai’s demise. He suggested that financial stress may have contributed to this distressing incident.
