Teaser of Batwara:1947, a film set against the backdrop of 1947 India Pakistan partition was dropped by makers marking a highly anticipated collaboration between Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi. Based the teaser and motion poster release, the film comes to the audience as historical drama centred on courage, sacrifice and the enduring human spirit during one of the most tumultuous times in the Indian history.

In the trailer over 1 minute long, the chaos that erupted during the 1947 partition is recreated with Sunny paaji battling against the odds. Shifting quickly from the promise of independence to the grim reality of the Partition, the footage zeroes in on the violence and devastation that followed the creation of Pakistan, highlighting the immense human cost of the division. In one of the scenes, when Abhimanyu asks Sunny if he wishes to fight, to this, he says, “Irada to nahi hai par aitraz bhi nhi hai,” giving goosebumps.  The teaser ends with the caption, “In times of hatred and fear, he chose courage (sic).”

The teaser also features the female cast Shabana Azmi and Preity Zinta in a vulnerable state. Blink and you miss- the appearance of Karan deol and Ali Fazal.

Producer AmirKhan’s official X handle also shared the teaser, writing-  “In a world torn apart, their story was a testament to courage. Meet the people who lived through it all Batwara 1947, in theatres from 14th August (sic).”

Netizens flooded the comment section revivning Gadar feels. A user wrote, “Gadar Wali feeling….when u see train of 1947 and hear the honk, and Sunny Paaji running…..wow….goosebumps. This is meant for theatre.” Another wrote, “Blockbuster loading batwara 1947 sunny deol lagatar 4 super duper hit movies.” A third user wrote, “Preity Zinta After A Long Time in Cinemas.”

The movie is set to hit the big screen on August 14th worlwide.
