Chennai: Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday resigned as the CM of Tamil Nadu. His defeat was not only framed by vote deficits but also his conspicuous refusal to acknowledge Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. According to sources his resignation letter has been sent to the office of Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.

In a post on X, DMK president M K Stalin expressed his heartfelt and sincere gratitude to all the people of Tamil Nadu who voted for the candidates of the secular progressive alliance led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly general elections. He said he considers each and every vote as an invaluable token of trust.

It is being said that the DMK chief throughout his campaign never mentioned about Vijay or his party. The 6 times ruling party DMK finally was dethroned. Stalin over the post as the CM in 2021, it is for first time in 35 years that he lost his Kolathur bastion to TVK’s VS Babu. Taking a jab at the debutant who sprung to fame by winning 108 of 234 seats, Stalin said, ” said it won just 17.43 lakh more votes than the DMK alliance, which secured 74 seats.”

Despite lacking majority in the Assembly polls, the actor turned politician wrote to the Lok Bhavan to form the government on its own. In an email communication to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Vijay has said that the party had secured 108 seats, and being the single largest party, it should be invited to form the government.
