In an unprecedented move that has put an end to over 60 years of Dravidian rule, politician-turned-actor C. Joseph Vijay is to be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 7, 2026.

The swearing-in ceremony, scheduled to be held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, will crown the incredible growth of his young political outfit Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), whose candidates have won a total of 108 seats in the state assembly election held on May 4, putting the ruling DMK and rival AIADMK in second and third position. The Swearing-In Ceremony

Vijay, who has contested and won from both Perambur and Trichy East constituencies, will soon vacate one constituency after the swearing-in ceremony.

There is no time to waste for the new government, which will immediately be under pressure to fulfill TVK’s primary promises of social justice and administrative efficiency.
