The UGC NET Provisional Answer Key 2026 is also likely to be released soon by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on the official website. The delay has caused thousands of candidates to wait and wait for their scores and estimate the time they have to plan their admission in higher education and their PhD program.

The UGC NET June 2026 examination was conducted on June 22, 23, 24, 25, 29 and 30, followed by a retest on July 5. The provisional answer key has yet to be released, even after over 1 month old of the examination.

Heating up over the delay, an NTA source told that those exam had been conducted in June for 87 subjects, thus making it “a major logistical exercise”. The source also said it would issue the results soon.

Answer Key, Response Sheets To Be Released

In addition to the provisional answer key, NTA is projected to provide candidates with question papers that they answered and their answer sheets. These documents will give the applicants an idea of how their answers match the provisional answers and estimate their chances of achieving the marks they are hoping for.

Candidates will also have the chance of disagreeing with answers if they feel that there are mis-match points. However, an objection shall be required to be made by use of the objection window on the designed web page within the prescribed time frame.

Each time an answer is challenged, there will be a ‘non-refundable processing fee of ₹200’. The candidate will also need to give appropriate reasons and supporting evidence for their objections.

All challenges received that are not based upon a legitimate concern or evidence, are received beyond the deadlines or on any medium other than the agency’s online challenge link will be disregarded.

JRF and PhD eligibility for UGC NET exam

UGC NET examination is held for providing UGC Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointing as Assistant Professors and admission to PhD programmes in various Universities/Colleges in India.

As the provisional answer key is anticipated shortly, candidates are requested to regularly visit the official NTA portal for updates on the answer key, response sheet and objection window.
