A Delhi court has allowed the CBI to question the three accused currently in the judicial custody in connection to the NEET UG 2026 paper leak case.
Duty judge Surender Mohit Singh heard the application to question accused Manisha Sanjay Waghmare, Dhanunjay Nivrutti Lokhande, and Shubham Madhukar Khairnar inside jail premises submitted by the CBI. Arguing their case, the agency pressed they believe the three accused are the key conspirators who allegedly facilitated the leak and circulation of the previously held NEET UG exam on May 3rd in exchange of monetary gains.
According to CBI, permission to question while in custody was necessary to obtain clarifications and further evidence as part of its ongoing investigation into the alleged examination malpractice.
Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad Cybercrime branch arrested two Rajasthan based men for allegedly running a fraud racket targeting anxious students and parents claiming to provide exam paper for the upcoming Re-NEET scheduled on June 21.
Preliminary investigation revealed, the accused used social media and messaging platforms like Telegram channels to share misleading claims of possessing the examination papers in exchange of money. The accused reportedly, accused created and managed multiple Telegram channels and IDs that advertised purported access to the RE-NEET question paper. Payments were collected through online transactions, QR codes and bank accounts after victims were convinced that the accused possessed confidential examination material.
As the probe deepened, no Re-NEET exam paper were found, indicating the racket to be a mere means of extorting money operating primarily as a financial fraud scheme rather than an actual examination paper leak network.
