The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has revised its question paper pattern for class 9 to 12 from the academic session 2026-2027.
Under the new rules announced in a notice dated October 15th, internal questions in the two-mark very short answer questions in the main subjects have been deleted. However, internal choices will continue in three-mark and four-mark questions. Besides, the board has also introduced internal choices in the questions for five-mark and seven-mark for students studying subjects under National Skill Qualifications Framework.
Students will now have to answer the two-mark questions in the main subjects without getting an to choose between alternative questions. Choices will remain available in three-mark and four-mark questions. For NSQF subjects, students can choose between questions in the five-mark and seven-mark category.
The latest notice only covers changes to the question paper pattern. So far, there is no announcement on change to the examination schedule or the second examination system.
What is the MP Board’ second exam system?
The MP Board introduced a second examination system for Class 10 and 12 in the previous academic session. It gives the students another chance to improve their marks or pass in the subjects that they could not clear in the first attempt. Students who were absent or failed in one or more subjects can also avail this opportunity to get promotion.
Students who passed can also take this test in order to improve their scores. Candidates have to apply through the school where they registered for the first examination and pay the prescribed fees. The board later considers the higher marks obtained amongst the two examinations while preparing the result.
