In a shocking murder case in Uttar Pradesh, a married couple, accused of killing and disposing of the body of a man who allegedly had an extramarital affair with a woman, has been arrested and police has revealed some shocking revelations.

Police investigated the two after analysing call records related to Vijay Nishad whose whereabouts were not known since May 8, investigators said. Police discovered that Kiran had seen Vijay several times prior to his disappearance. The couple was interrogated and discrepancies in their accounts led to a forensics investigation of their mobile phones, which allegedly uncovered internet searches for murder and body disposal.

Police Superintendent Abhimanyu Manglik said that Vijay Nishad was allegedly in a love affair with Kiran Devi. Investigators allege that Kiran invited Vijay to her home, where Kamta Nishad attacked him and murdered him. Later, the couple used a grinding machine to dismember the body, put it in sacks and brought it to a forest in Kanpur’s Reuna area where they tried to incinerate the body using petrol, the police said.

Police believe the motive could have been when Vijay allegedly posted Kiran’s intimate photos on social media. The images, reported Kamta, who worked in Gujarat, were discovered by him, he got home and plotted revenge.

But Vijay’s family have disputed the police version, stating that they saw a larger group attacking him on the night of his disappearance. The couple also raised doubts if it was possible for them to commit such a complex crime without the help of any other person, considering Kiran’s pregnancy and Kamta’s physical inability to do so, due to a metal rod in his leg.

Police are still probing for other suspects and are collecting forensic evidence to work out the who, what, when and how.
