Indore: A man found himself in police custody on Wednesday due to allegations of deceitfully making off with motorcycles under the guise of taking them for test rides. According to the police, the suspect’s modus operandi involved reaching out to individuals who had advertised their bikes for sale on various social media platforms.
Siyaram Singh Gurjar, the in-charge of the Rajendra Nagar police station, received information that an individual carrying a knife was spotted loitering near New York City on Bypass Road. Law enforcement officers swiftly responded to the scene and apprehended the individual, identified as Shadab Khan, a resident of Dewas. During the arrest, a knife was seized from Khan.
Upon being taken to the police station, Khan confessed to a recent incident. He had contacted a person who had listed a sports bike for sale on a social media platform the previous day. The suspect lured the bike owner to Regional Park by expressing interest in taking the bike for a test ride. However, when the unsuspecting owner arrived at the agreed location, Khan fled with the motorcycle.
Following the commission of the crime, Khan was later spotted near New York City and subsequently apprehended by the police within a few hours of the incident. He confessed to having committed similar offenses twice in the past, which had led to his previous arrests. At the time of his latest arrest, Khan was out on bail for the earlier cases.
The complainant’s motorcycle was successfully recovered from the accused, and authorities are conducting further inquiries to unravel the full extent of Khan’s involvement in these incidents.
