A sad story was reported in Ahmedabad where an MBA student of a prominent business school was stabbed to death after a scuffle on a road.
The victim, Priyanshu Jain, an MBA second-year student at the Mudra Institute of Communications (MICA), was returning to his hostel with a fellow student around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. From police reports, the two had gone to a local bakery to buy a cake.
On their way back, the students were said to have met a driver who was driving his car in a dangerous manner around the Bopal locality crossroads. This caused an altercation between the students and the driver, Ahmedabad Rural Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Jat said. It was when the driver insisted on following the students as they walked about 200 meters and then stopped. He then went to his car to take a knife and stabbed Jain with it, seriously wounding him.
In the aftermath of the assault, Jain was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead due to internal bleeding, said officials.
“The accused is still unknown, but the police teams which are probing the case continuously will soon arrest him”, said SP Om Prakash Jat, adding that the hunt for the fugitive continues.
This event has received a lot of attention from the MICA community as well as the public due to the rising problem of violence related to car aggression. The police have sought public confidence by arguing that all measures are being taken in order to arrest the culprit and get justice for the bereaved family. This incident has spoken volumes on the need for aggressive and road safety awareness as well as the concern of conflict solving responsibly.
